Happy Belated Birthday Marcy! We just got back from our Anniversary get-away at Bear Lake. Five stupendous years of marriage… and a splendid weekend to celebrate them. We left on Wednesday after work and took Thursday and Friday off. We stayed at the Trend West condos in Harbor Village. Bear Lake is very different in the winter. At 8pm I went out looking for a gas station or store where I could buy some shampoo. Nothing was open in any of the surrounding towns. So, if you ever go up there in the winter, make sure that you plan ahead because the whole area shuts down at 6pm and you might just end up with greasy hair and no hot chocolate. On Thursday, after sleeping in and having a nice French toast breakfast, we went and rented a pair of snowmobiles. It was a glorious day with blue skies and a light dusting of fresh snow. We were the first ones to hit the freshly groomed trails and we only saw one other person the whole day. We took the trails up to the “Sinks” by Beaver Mountain and then broke loose in the waist deep powder. Marcy is generally the worry wart, but for some reason every time she disappeared from my view, I would get nervous that she had tipped over in the deep snow or gotten stuck. She never did of course, but I could not help myself from imagining the worst. We spent the whole day on the snowmobiles and returned them around 4:30. I would highly recommend a day in the mountains on a big motorized sled. It was a blast. On Friday we just watched movies and went on a walk down to the ice filled shores of the lake. It was a relaxing weekend topped off by Marcy’s Birthday and the U2 Concert on Saturday night. The concert was very entertaining and we had a great time! All in all it was a fantastic weekend. Here are some pictures of our snowmobiling trip. (Click on the pictures for a larger view)
