Scratch That

I mentioned in my last post that now all the trips were over, life seemed a little mundane.  As it turns out, life has been far from mundane.  About a month ago, after all our Saturday yard work was complete, Kirk told Maren and Jesse that it was time to take off the training wheels.  It was actually the first time Maren seemed excited about it, instead of whiny about it, so we dedicated the rest of the day to teaching them how to ride their bikes.  It was kind of a 2 for 1 special since they both learned how to ride that day.  It took Maren all of about 2 seconds to get going and she was riding without help almost immediately.

Jesse on the other hand took a little longer.  Check out the concentration on that little face.

Several crashes, scrapes, and bruises later they were riding like pros.  It took them about a week to refine some of the more technical skills like getting started on their own, making sharper turns, and going in and out of driveways, but now they are riding like pros and we are thrilled!

Miles was the happy spectator.

They have been obsessed with riding and a side bonus is that Maren is so much more excited about going to school when she can ride her bike there.  It's been super fun to watch them.  It's like they're full fledged kids; riding around, playing soccer, going to school.  It's been a blast.!
